Saul Bass Movie Posters

Saul Bass did a great job on all his posters. Ones like the one above show what you can except when seeing a play or movie. In "Vertigo" we can tell by the poster, that the movie is going to deal with some sort of mystery. The man in the top hat hints that  he may be a detective, seeing that around this time they usually wore suits and top hat. The spiral image to me also hints at this being some type of mystery in which is going to be investigated. There is a lady outline toward the middle of the spiral which makes me  think that she may have been the one murder or die. Also by the way that the man and women or interlocked one can assume that they knew one another.
Another poster I enjoy that Bass did is "West Side Story". From this poster one can assume that the play or movie is going to be a musical about a couple. There is a stair case along the type which sets me to think that the setting is going to take place in a city most likely a major one. Come to find out the setting is in New York City. The figures make me think of Romeo and Juliet. Two star struck lovers that can only be together at night ( hence the two black figures together), but live to separate live during the day(the white figures apart).
